The dip, the dead end, and the cliff
When to commit and when to quit.
Hey marketers!
We've all been there - that moment in our career or a project where we hit a wall.
The initial excitement fades. It’s replaced by doubt, uncertainty, and a barrage of questions.
Is this just a temporary setback? Or is it a sign that you’re on the wrong path?
Enter "The Dip," a concept introduced by Seth Godin in his short but profound 96-page book.
While originally published in 2007, its teachings are incredibly relevant today, especially for us marketers often tasked with doing more with less.
This concept has helped me several times throughout my career.
I’ve used it to help me decipher if I’m in a temporary setback or a dead end.
When I’ve felt unsure about a project, strategy, or even my entire role at a company.
I’ll share my thoughts on this concept, a few examples, and hopefully give you some encouragement.
